About Us
Konkokyo Yokkaichi Shrine was founded in 1904 and celebrated its 120th Anniversary Service in 2024.
Our former head minister was a woman, and both our current head minister and associate minister are also women.
We hope to be especially supportive of women who seek guidance and understanding regarding concerns related to gender and daily life.
Our Faith
Konkokyo reveres Tenchi Kane No Kami, the Divine Parent whose sacred body is the entire universe.
We believe that Kami’s power is vast and compassionate.
Our faith places great importance on gratitude — appreciating all that sustains and nurtures us — and on living each day with thankfulness and joy.
The things we often take for granted are, in reality, profound blessings:
- We can breathe in and out
- Our hearts beat over 100,000 times a day
- We can see, hear, speak, and communicate
- We can enjoy meals and naturally eliminate waste
These are not functions sustained solely by human effort, but precious workings bestowed upon us by Kami.
Through faith, we become aware that what seems ordinary is actually extraordinary.
Toritsugi Mediation
We value Toritsugi Mediation — a one-on-one pastoral session in which a Konkokyo minister listens to personal concerns and offers guidance rooted in faith.
This individualized connection is central to our tradition.
Open and Welcoming
We aim to be an open shrine for:
- people living overseas
- non-Japanese nationals
- anyone who has never encountered Konkokyo before
We strictly protect privacy and personal information.
Even if you live far away or cannot visit in person, we are happy to connect online.
Please feel free to reach out anytime.
